BEAT Solutions has won a prestigious award at the 2020 Regional Energy Efficiency Awards in the Energy Consultant / Consultancy of the Year category.
The awards night was held at Sofitel, London, Gatwick on Thursday 5 March 2020. Hosted by Gary Braybooke of Cambell Braybrooke. The awards are designed "to reward and promote the indivduals and organisations that demonstrate a deep commitment to building this important business sector in the UK: entering new markets, exceeding sales goals and providing exceptional customer support and projects that build real value-add-on, to build world-class energy efficient infrastructures and property markets that are built on sound economic, sustainable and environmental principles."
Darren and Lynne Pinnick founded BEAT Solutions in 2006 and are specialist Energy Compliance Consultants in new build dwellings.
The family run business has a strong heritage in the construction industry, with a passion for sharing knowledge and expertise on sustainability. We see ourselves as pioneers in the energy consultancy business, changing companies’ attitudes and finding a balanced and energy efficient build solution.
Our aim is to consider the best sustainable approach, in the most cost conscious manner. Establishing great working relationships with our clients is at the forefront of our approach. It is our intention to be part of our client’s team which allows them to make cohesive decisions with sustainability at the core. This makes for a seamless process, thus enhancing our clients’ efficiency.
BEAT Solutions work across the South Coast - including Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex and Surrey. In areas such as Winchester and Eastleigh, there is a requirement for 19% over standard building regulations. In other areas, there is a requirement for a percentage of renewable energy to be provided to new dwellings. The BEAT team has excellent knowledge of the local councils planning conditions to give clients the best advice.
Darren Pinnick, the Managing Director at BEAT Solutions. He said: “I am extremely proud of my team and honoured to collect this award. We are passionate about saving our client’s money and energy on their new build projects. We also believe it to be extremely important for occupants to live in healthy homes with good ventilation.”
BEAT Solutions has a strategic alliance with Highwood Construction and are heavily involved supporting them with the residential units at their multi-award winning landmark housing development. The North Stoneham Park project in Eastleigh will have 1100+ new homes (including a proportion of affordable housing) and includes a new school, shops, sports facilities, a care village as well as green open spaces.
As well as consultancy for energy compliance, BEAT Solutions also undertake the onsite compliance testing. Air permeability testing is a requirement of Part L of Building Regulations and helps to establish the energy efficiency of a new build property. The test measures the amount of uncontrolled air movement through the building’s fabric such as cracks, gaps, holes and voids. Increased leakage from a dwelling can have knock on effects, such as:
- Unwanted heat loss, leading to…
- Occupants living in the discomfort of a cold home
- Increased heating bills to provide thermal comfort
- Generating more CO2 emissions which is harmful to the environment.
Our engineers provide independent testing and educate clients to move away from accepting self-certified extractor fan installations in new build dwellings, as we are passionate about the occupants living in healthy homes with good ventilation.
We also provide the following services for new build:
- SAP Calculations (Part La and L1b of Building Regulations)
- Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
- Water Efficiency Calculations (Part G of Building Regulations)
- Air Permeability Testing (Part L of Building Regulations)
- Extract Ventilation Testing (Part F of Building Regulations)
