75 New Dwellings | South Downs National Park

Preparing For Planning

BEAT Solutions were instructed to prepare an energy and sustainability report to accompany the planning application for a new 75 dwellings site located in the South Downs National Park. In particular The South Downs National Park policies included:- 


South Downs Local Plan (2019) – Policy SD48


Requiring 19% CO² reduction improvement against Building Regulations Part L1 (2013) through energy efficiency of the building. 


South Downs National Park Authority Sustainable Construction Checklist 3 – Green Energy 


Requiring a further 20% improvement of CO² emissions from on-site Low/Zero technologies. 


South Downs National Park Authority Sustainable Construction SPD (August 2020) – Requirements for Large Residential Developments (>10 homes)


i. Energy Efficiency: >19% improvement over Building Regulations standards 

ii. Renewable Energy: >20% Energy Reductions from on site renewable energy technologies iii. Passive Design: >10% of homes to be Passive House Certified
